The New York Giants were this close to
losing five straight after starting the
season 5-0. Instead, they squeaked out a
34-31 win over Atlanta in overtime. But
there isn’t much celebrating for Giants’
fans yet. New York had a 31-17 lead at
one point, but let the Falcons storm
back and force overtime.
There isn’t a team in the NFL that
feels worse than the Denver Broncos
right now. On top of the world after
starting 6-0, they have lost four
straight, the latest a 32-3 drubbing at
the hands of the Chargers. That loss
dropped them from first in the AFC West.
Denver is only the second team in NFL
history to start the season with six
wins and then lose four straight. So
yeah, it’s bad times in Mile High. The Giants are lucky to be facing the
team with the least amount of momentum
in the NFL. The Broncos are reeling, and
if New York wants to be taken seriously
as a playoff contender, they need to
take advantage of that. Still no word on who will be
quarterbacking for Denver, either Chris
Simms or an injured Kyle Orton, but as
long as New York puts enough pressure on
him, the QB’s struggles will trickle
down to the rest of the team. Defensive linemen Justin Tuck and Osi
Umenyiora have 9.5 sacks between them;
they’ll be counted on to pressure
whoever’s taking the snaps for Denver.

Today The Broncos need to find out what
they did in the first six games of the
season that they’re not doing now. Sure
it hurts that Orton is out, but it’s
hard to fathom the rest of the team
playing so poorly in his absence. Brandon Marshall was invisible versus
San Diego, and that has to change.
Knowshown Moreno and his two touchdowns
lead the 23rd ranked rushing offense.
The Giants are not an invincible
team; get to them early and they’ll be
rattled for the entire game. The
question is whether the Broncos are
already too rattled themselves to get
any semblance of momentum going their
way. What The Giants Have To Do To Win
