There is just one week left in the NFL
betting season, and BetUS poses five
questions for football handicappers to
watch out for in Week 17... 1:
How will the Wild Cards in the AFC be
won? Last season, this is
approximately what the NFC Wild Card
race looked like heading into Week 17.
But when everything fell right, it was
the Eagles that snared that last
position and parlayed it into a trip to
the NFC Championship Game. Baltimore and
New York know that it's win and in. If
one trips, Denver will have a shot to
get in. If two slip, the Texans can lock
up their first playoff berth in
franchise history. Pittsburgh, Miami,
and Jacksonville are all still
technically in the mix, but need a lot
of help. 2: How many first round
showdowns may be played in Week 17?
It's not often that you see teams play
in back-to-back weeks, but it's viable
that New England/Houston,
Philadelphia/Dallas, Green Bay/Arizona,
and Cincinnati/New York could all be
Week 17 games that are replayed again in
the first round of the playoffs. The
biggest question is whether Cincinnati
and New England will be playing to
eliminate their opponents, or whether
they'd rather try to help them out in
order to make their own favorable
matchups in the Wild Card round. 3: Which team will rise up
and capture the NFC East? All
of a sudden, the
NFL betting battle between the
Cowboys and Eagles is for the NFC East
crown. If Philadelphia proves
victorious, it will capture a first
round bye. Dallas can also pull off the
bye week if the Vikings fall to the
Giants that same day. The Boys won in
the City of Brotherly Love 20-16 earlier
this year, but will the December hex
come back up to bite them in the butt
when it matters most? If these last two
weeks are any indicator, this should be
a heck of a battle in the NFC East on
Sunday afternoon. 4: Can any of the head
coaches on the hot seat save their jobs?
It's difficult to believe that there are
so many coaches that could legitimately
get fired after next Sunday, but there
are a few that have made some great
cases to save their skins when things
looked otherwise grim. That means you,
Eric Mangini, Raheem Morris, and John
Fox. The losing coach between Mangini
and Jack Del Rio may ultimately end up
on the unemployment line by Monday
morning. 5: Will Chris Johnson reach
the coveted 2,000-yard rushing mark?
In a year that is ultimately going to
end in disappointment for the Tennessee
Titans, RB Chris Johnson has been an
absolute stud. He's not going to break
the single-season rushing record of
all-time, but he's got a great chance to
reach 2,000 yards. It'll take 128
against Seattle on Sunday, and for as
well as the Seahawks have played, it's
very plausible to believe he'll have
that number reached rather quickly. Want a parlay, an if-bet, a teaser, a
round-robbin?
