A huge Big East battle this Friday features the 9th ranked Pittsburgh Panthers facing the West Virginia Mountaineers at 7:00 PM ET in the 102nd meeting of these 2 teams.

The Panthers have won the last two meetings between these squads including a shocking upset 13-9 victory in Morgantown on 2007, when they kept out the then-No. 2 Mountaineers from an invite to the National Championship game.

"I think that win (in Morgantown) ... it gave us life," Panthers coach Dave Wannstedt said. "I think it helped our program in several areas that today we look back on and probably it was the turning point since I've been here, without a doubt."

Both teams have proven that they can run ball, but on the Panthers side the big surprise is freshman RB Dion Lewis who has numbers to be at least be talked about in the Heisman Trophy race.

Lewis has 13 TD rushing and is 9 yards away from 1300 rushing yards (which he will surpass tonight). The Mountaineers might not be strong enough to stop a guy that has run for over 100 yards in the last 5 games he has played.

College Football Tip: WV has only allowed 6 rushing TDs all season, so they should be able to stop Lewis when it counts.

If Lewis doesn’t make an early impact, Pittsburgh will put the ball in the hands of Senior QB Bill Stull. He can manage the game but is not capable of winning if they need 3 TD or more. Expect Stull to look for WR Dorin Dickerson every time they are at the red zone.

West Virginia on the other side needs to open some holes for RB Noel Devine if they want to win at home. Devine has not performed well the last three games putting under 100 yards on each game without a score.

Consider these NCAA football betting trends: West Virginia will try to go undefeated in Morgantown for the first time since 1993 but the Mountaineers are 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games at home. Pittsburgh is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games and the total has gone UNDER in 5 of Pittsburgh's last 6 games and in 4 of West Virginia's last 6 games.
