The Nationals offense has been absolutely horrendous over the last two months. Joe Blanton is by no means a shut down pitcher, but he has enjoyed a lot of success since coming over to the National League. He has shut down some weaker hitting National League teams and I expect a similar performance today. Meanwhile, Jamie Bergmann has been a solid starter this season, and he is coming off of a very poor home outing against New York. I expect him to come out with a strong effort. Philadelphia has struggled to hit mightily over the past ten games. They hit below .200 as a team in all 4 games against the Padres, scoring 7 runs total in 4 games. Look for the first game of this series to be very low scoring.

Baltimore’s bullpen has been awful recently, and they will be in trouble tonight against Boston. The Orioles used their best arms last night and will be called upon significantly once again tonight. Daniel Cabrera has been off and on all season, but he is due for a bad performance tonight. The Red Sox have faced him numerous times this season, so they will be familiar with this stuff. Dice K gets the start for Boston tonight. He has been lights out on the road this season with one of the best road ERA’s of any pitcher in baseball. Look for him to shut down the Orioles and the Red Sox to hammer the Baltimore pitching.

Anaheim is in the midst of a small losing streak, mainly because of some hitting problems. Ervin Santana has been good lately, but no where near his form of earlier in the year. Santana has allowed 4 runs or more in 4 out of his last 7 starts. James Shields is an excellent pitcher at home, and he shut down Anaheim earlier in the year. Shields has allowed only 10 runs in his last 5 home starts. I look for him to be very motivated in this huge series against the American League leader, Anaheim. Look for Tampa Bay to continue their hot streak and get the win.

Toronto has a distinct pitching advantage in this game. A.J. Burnett has owned the Yankees this season and in his career. Darrell Rasner has not pitched well, especially on the road. He hasn’t lasted very long in any of his recent starts which opens things up for the awful Yankees bullpen. Toronto has also been hitting the ball much better than the Yankees. Overall Toronto has been one of the better teams in baseball since the All-Star break and I look for them to continue their winning ways tonight.

Both of these teams have top hitting line-ups and awful bullpens. The only reason for this selection is the starting pitchers. Armando Galarraga has been outstanding in the last 2 months both at home and on the road. He has allowed 4 earned runs or less in all of his last 10 starts. He has shut down Cleveland, Tampa Bay, Baltimore, and Minnesota twice. Vicente Padilla has had problems recently, and I expect the same tonight against the Tigers. He has allowed 33 runs in his last 7 starts, averaging close to 5 runs per outing. In addition Padilla has not latest anywhere near as long as Galarraga has in their recent starts.

The moneyline price for Minnesota is very steep in this game, so we will take a look at the run line. Oakland’s bullpen has been extensively in the last 2 games, and they will be called upon heavily tonight. Sean Gallagher hasn’t lasted into the 6th inning at all recently. Minnesota had a rare down night on offense last night, and I expect them to rebound fully tonight. Look for them to hammer the Oakland pitching and for Kevin Slowey to shut down the weak hitting A’s.

Jo Jo Reyes has been absolutely awful over the past few starts. In contrast, Oliver Perez has been outstanding recently and arguable the Mets best pitcher. I feel that New York is going to be an excellent team to back over the next month and a half, minus the games that their bullpen blows. Oliver Perez, John Maine, Johan Santana, and Michael Pelfrey should have pitching advantages over their opposing starter in almost every game. This game is another one where the Mets have a huge pitching advantage. The only reason not to take the run line is because of the questionable Mets bullpen. The Braves have packed things in for the season, evident by their shutout loss to the Giants yesterday. Look for the Mets to keep up their hot playing.

Seattle has been hitting the ball well but their pitching has been absolutely awful. However, the Mariners are worth taking a look at when Felix Hernandez takes the mound, especially against young lefty Clayton Richard. Richard has allowed 20 runs in his first 3 starts since being called up. Seattle hits lefties very well and they hit the ball very well last night. Chicago lives and dies with the home run and Hernandez is not a home run pitcher at all. Look for the White Sox to struggle against Hernandez.

| I typically do not rate my releases, as I do not make a selection unless it has a strong probability of winning. On rare occasions I will release games of the month or games of the year. My games of the month are 3 unit selections and my games of the year are 10 unit selections. |

| I encourage all of my customers to start with a set bankroll and wager 1 unit on every selection, unless it is a game of the month or game of the year. I also want my customers to establish how much a unit is before they start wagering. As their bankroll increases, they should slowly increase the amount wagered for 1 unit selections. |
